How To Be Your Best Version
The world is rapidly changing, and with a lot of social media buzz; it's almost inevitable to be fake. There is a lot of noise and competition. Everyone wants to show their good/best sides. It's about who has it best.
To some of those people who really know how to socialize, they are experiencing an ego boost, rise in confidence and self esteem; while on the other hand, those not "too good" with social media socializing, are finding it hard to cope and fit in, in this rapidly socialized community.
Myself for example; I love taking selfies every once a week just to see how I look on camera. But; I barely post on social media. I am such a zombie when it comes to posing for a full photo.
I can't say that God didn't bless me physically... He did, and my reason for not posting full pictures on social media has to do with my awkward poses which sometimes I feel are "not too modern".
selfie check check!!
There are other people like me; maybe they do not like how they look, they think they do not have the best wardrobe like those of other people they see on social media, or they feel they are not as economically empowered like their friends on social media, who pose for pictures while driving big cars, or in "Ferraris" and "Lamborghinis".
Amidst all this competition and feeling so off the track; I encourage all of us to embrace who we are, where we are in life and what we have.
It's OK to post a not so awesome picture;
You do not have to be in make up just like everyone else
It's OK to take a photo from your bodaboda
It's OK not to be "OK" like all others.
Most times when I'm alone in my house, I love to take a shower and not apply anything on my skin, dress lightly for fresh air and just sit and watch the scenery... away from the social media noise, from people and from TV. I find this practice very therapeutic because, I am able to reconnect to myself, meditate and reconnect to God also.
If you spend all your free time reading timeline stories and catching up with the latest gossip, you risk losing your creative power and your ability to be an "original".
You are prone to just copy other people and have no life of your own.
Take a few minutes each day, sit alone and away from all the noise and just sit still. You will be surprised as to how much you need to do for yourself and how much disconnected you are to yourself.
Many of us do not even know ourselves.
I dare you to take up this challenge...
Stand in front of a mirror and just gaze at yourself for about 5-15 minutes...
You will realize just how much you don't know yourself.
Connect with yourself through the image you see on the mirror and tell yourself awesome things that will hep build you up.
Caution: this may cause a lot of emotions... accept them so as to fully reconnect with who you are.
I hope we shall all practice being ourselves, amidst this noisy, very competitive and overly busy modern environment.
Being yourself is the best gift you can give to yourself and also please God in the process.
